Krasimir Tolev is originally from Straldzha, Bulgaria. Encouraged by his family he began studying arts when he was twelve years of age. In 1993 Krasimir graduated from a national school for folklore arts in the town of Kotel. In 1995 he moved to Plovdiv the second largest city in Bulgaria and started working as an assistant in photo studio. During the eight-year period Krasimir learned the craft of photography, and photography became part of his life.
A relative newcomer to the United States, Krasimir moved to Louisville, Kentucky, in September 2003. In the fall of 2005 he was enrolled in the (ESL) program at Jefferson Community and Technical College. He arrived in the United States speaking no English. In 2008 Krasimir decided to continue his education and became a part - time student in Commercial photography.
In 2012 Krasimir completed his college degree with high distinction for his impressive GPA. In addition to that he was awarded with an Outstanding Achievement Award for the Communication Arts Technology Program. Along the way, he earned numerous honors in photography, including recent Gold and Silver Louies from the American Advertising Federation Louisville for Advertising Photography.
Krasimir has an artist's eye, and he blends skill with fine art photography into his advertising photography, still life photography, portraits and special events photography. His work has been displayed in Cranz gallery at Jefferson Community and Technical College, Tim Faulkner gallery 632 E. Market Street, Mellwood Art Center, Speed Art Museum, Horseshoe Casino and Hotel Southern Indiana, and The Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville.
At present, Krasimir resides in Worcester, MA and works for the UMASS Medical School /Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences/ as a Biomedical Photographer.
